Twisted Tale Events: Where the Story Began
Twisted Tale Events was born from a simple idea: book events should be about more than books—they should be about people, connection, and the stories that bring us together. What started as a passion for books and a desire to create safe, meaningful experiences for authors and readers has grown into so much more!
Our events bring together authors, readers, vendors, bookstores, influencers, and publishing professionals for immersive events designed to celebrate the incredible world of books. No matter where our feet land for each conference we plan, our goal is always the same: create an environment where everyone feels welcome, inspired, and excited to be part of this amazing community we all love!
We Believe in the Power of Stories
Stories have the ability to make us laugh, make us cry, help us escape, remind us that we're not alone, and bring together people who may have never crossed paths otherwise. That's why community is at the heart of everything we do. We strive to create events where authors have the opportunity to connect with their readers and grow their following, where readers can discover their next favorite book and make lifelong friendships, and where everyone leaves feeling like they are loved!
Giving Back is Always A Part of Our Story
At Twisted Tale Events, we feel it is always important to use the power of our generous community to make a difference!
Our events partner with local charitable organizations and seek out opportunities to give back to the communities that so graciously host our events. Through our special donation program titled The Enchanted Pages Project, we work to share the magic of books with children and families who need a little extra magic in their lives. We also create a charity anthology at every event and share the proceeds from the book sales to a locally chosen charity or program. We believe that when a community comes together, we can create something so much bigger than any one person could ever create alone.

EVENT DIRECTOR
The storyteller behind the stories! Stephenie is the founder and driving force behind Twisted Tale Events, turning her love of books, community, and unforgettable experiences into literary events that bring readers and authors together. A lifelong book lover, author, and unapologetic dreamer, Stephenie believes the best events are about more than books—they’re about connection, community, and creating memories that last long after the final page. Stephenie writes under the pen name of Lyla Davis, and is an Amazon Top 20 author of both Christmas romance and small town romance. When she isn't planning the next big event, you'll likely find her camping, spending time with her family, singing at church, or dreaming up her next big idea.
Jennifer
MARKETING DIRECTOR
JD gets to stay home now with nothing but coffee, Hubs, Simon and Garfunkel—the dogs, not the band—and her crazy characters to keep her company. But prior to becoming an author, she spent more than 20 years in hospitality leadership, working as a General Manager across national parks, luxury resorts, and even the RV lifestyle.
Along the way, JD collected a little bit of everything—operations, marketing, events, business start-ups, organizational growth, and the occasional ability to make order out of chaos. Then she threw indie publishing into the mix, building and marketing her own author brand and getting a firsthand education in what authors and readers actually want from the book community. Now she gets to bring all of it together at Twisted Tale Events—helping more readers discover these events, dreaming up creative partnerships and sponsorships, and finding new ways to make the experience even better for everyone involved.

If there’s a book worth talking about, Momma D is probably already talking about it! As a passionate BookTok creator and champion of indie authors, she brings her love of books, big personality, and genuine reader enthusiasm to the Twisted Tale Events team. As our Director of Social Media, Momma D helps bring Twisted Tale Events to life across TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube—creating buzz, highlighting authors and vendors, promoting events, and connecting our community with the people and stories they love. With a knack for connecting readers with their next favorite story, she helps authors get discovered, builds excitement around our events, and brings the bookish community together—one post at a time.
Policies & Procedures
Zero Tolerance Policy
Twisted Tale Events encourages reporting of all perceived incidents of discrimination, harassment, or retaliation, regardless of the offender's identity or position. Individuals who believe that they have been the victim of such conduct shoudl discuss their concerns with the event coordinator, social media admins, or any member of onsite security teams. Any reported allegations of harassment, discrimination or retaliation will be handled in a matter of zero tolerance. The individual in question will be removed from our event nad associated social media, and will not be allowed to attend any future events hosted by Twisted Tale Events. We will maintain confidentiality throughout the process. Retaliation against an individual or Twisted Tale Events for reporting harassment or discrimination, or for participating in an investigation of a claim of harassment or discrimination is a serious violation of this policy and, like harassment or discrimination itself, will be subject to appropriate action, including possible legal action if necessitated by law. Acts of retaliation should be reported immediately and will be promptly addressed.
Anti-Harassment Policy
Twisted Tale Events is committed to an environment in which all individuals are treated with respect and dignity. Each individual has the right to a professional atmosphere that promotes equal opportunities and prohibits unlawful discriminatory practices, including harassment. Therefore, Twisted Tale Events expects that all relationships among persons involved with our events will be business-like and free of explicity bias, prejudice and harassment. Twisted Tale Events has developed this policy to ensure that all its participants can communicate in an environment free from unlawful harassment, discrimination, and retaliation. We will make every reasonable effort to ensure that all concerned are familiar with these policies and are aware that any complaint in violation of such policies will be investigated and resolved appropriately. Any individual who has concerns over these policies can contact: twistedtaleevents@gmail.com for assistance and guidance with this policy. These policies should not, and may not, be used as a basis or excluding or separating individuals of a particular gender, or any other protected characteristic, from participating in business or social activities or discussions. In other words, no one should make the mistake of engaging in discrimination or exclusion to avoid allegations of harassment. The law and the policies of Twisted Tale Events prohibit disparate treatment on the basis of sex or any other protected characteristic, with regard to terms, conditions, privileges and prerequisites of employment. The prohibitions against harassment, discrimination and retaliation are intended to complement and further those policies, not to form the basis of an exception to them.
Sexual Harassment Policy
Sexual harassment constitutes discrimination and is illegal under federl, state and local laws. For the purposes of this policy, "sexual harassment" is defined as unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature when, for example: a)submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicity, b)submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for decisions affecting such individual, or c) such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably creating an intimidating, hostile or offensive environment.
Hate Speech Policy
Twisted Tale Events is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment for all attendees, authors, vendors, and staff. Hate speech, discriminatory remarks, or intimidation of any kind will not be tolerated. This includes but is not limited to: 1- Offensive comments or slurs based on race, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or appearance. 2- Threats, intimidation, or bullying in any form- whether in person, online, or through social media channels connected to our events or community. 3- Deliberate targeting or shaming of individuals or groups with the intent to humiliate, isolate, or cause distress. 4- Deliberate targeting or defamation of any Event by Twisted Tale Events or any person associated with Twisted Tale Events. Anyone engaging in such bahavior will be subject to immediate removal from the Event or community spaces without refund, and may be permanently barred from future participation. Our community thrives on respect, kindness, and support. We expect all participants to uphold these values at all times.
Reporting Procedure
Twisted Tale Events encourages reporting of all perceived incidents of discrimination or harassment. Please send report to twistedtaleevents@gmail.com with the subject line reading: Report of Policy Violation. We will investigate such reports promptly and thoroughly. Twisted Tale Events prohibits retaliation against any individual who reports discrimination or harassment or participates in an investigation of such reports. If it is determined that discrimination or harassment occurs, the individual responsible will be removed from our event and associated social media.
